The Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing

If you want to become a Gym Instructor, working in a gym environment in an employed role, then you will need to obtain an industry recognised Level 2 certificate in fitness instructing.

If you want to become a Personal Trainer, the first step is to learn the basic skills in coaching individuals in a gym environment – therefore you will need to complete the Level 2 certificate in Fitness instructing as the pre-requisite to enrolling onto the Level 3 certificate in personal training.

Therefore, the Level 2 is the primary course that most individuals would need to do.

What will you learn?

The Level 2 course gives the foundational knowledge that any good fitness professional will need to have great subject knowledge in.

It is this course where you will learn about the principles of exercise – the benefits of weight training, cardiovascular training, flexibility, as well as the physiological effects put upon the body. You will also start your learning of the human body in Anatomy & Physiology – hugely important when programming for and coaching your future clients.

You will also be learning the skills that you need to be able to instruct others through free-weight exercises, resistance machines, cardiovascular activity, warm up and cool downs and much more.

As you can see, the knowledge you will learn on the level 2 course will ensure that you are a fitness professional who knows how to get the basics right.

The Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training

Upon completion of your level 2 certificate in fitness instructing qualification, if if you have previously obtained it, you can progress straight onto the level 3 certificate in personal training qualification.

It is the level 3 qualification that not just allows you to work in a gym environment, but gives you the opportunity to work employed or self-employed with your own business. You will be insured to train your clients in both a gym or outdoors environment and on a regular, weekly basis.

What will you learn?

After learning the foundational skills at level 2, you will then be layering on these skills and developing your subject knowledge even further.

You will be adding to your knowledge on training systems – such as interval training, weight training methods, advanced mobility and stretching exercises, biomechanics analysis and much more – along with developing further knowledge in Anatomy & Physiology.

The important thing with this course is that you learn how to periodise a clients training and lifestyle to enable them to achieve their personal goals, whether that be weight loss, muscle building, training for endurance, sports specific goals etc.

You will also learn fully about nutrition – how to analyse food diaries, provide nutrition plans, and to educate others on the importance of healthy eating.

We will also ensure you have a good understanding of how to build up your client base, importantly giving you the blueprint to building a successful fitness business.

The Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy

This course can be done with no previous qualifications. You will be given all the education needed to be able to build you own self employed sports massage business, or work within an employed role.

It is also an excellent additional qualification for personal trainers and other fitness professionals who want to build their knowledge, offer more services to their client base, and ultimately increase their overall income.

What will you learn?

You will learn all the required theory to become a knowledgable sports massage therapist, again knowledge on the human body is vastly important so Anatomy & Physiology for Sports Massage Treatments is covered.

The full array of sports massage techniques are taught, along with extra industry relevant knowledge which is given from the course tutor who runs her own successful sports massage business.

By the end of the course you will know a range of different massage to treat an array of ailments, along with how to provide post treatment care.

The Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates

No previous knowledge is needed for this course, we will cover everything you need to have a clear understanding and knowledge in to be able to run your own Pilates sessions. This can be done in conjunction with other elements of your fitness business, or you can simply be a stand alone pilates instructor providing both one to one sessions and regular group sessions.

What you will learn?

We have structured this course to not just teach you how to teach others Pilates, but importantly to develop where needed your own Pilates skill set and performance.

You will be taught how to screen clients ready for Pilates, how to programme for different levels and abilities, and how to periodise your Pilates classes or one to one sessions.

All of this content is taught by our tutor who runs her own successful Pilates business, therefore many lessons from her own experience will be shared, giving you a great learning experience.
