As with our Level 2 Fitness Instructor course, once you’re signed up all students get access to all theory course modules via our online academy, allowing you to learn on the go and work around your busy lifestyle.

Your online course content includes:

Nutrition

Periodised programming for a range of different goals

Delivering personal training - including advanced resistance training and cardiovascular training methods

Exercise and coaching library

Principles of strength, conditioning and power training

Client consultation, posture analysis, fitness and strength testing

Anatomy & physiology

Business and marketing for the fitness professional

The practical workshops:

*These are designed and delivered by experienced Fitness Professionals and will teach you the advanced skills that a personal trainer should have as well as how to implement these new skills to future clients.

Coaching Interval Training Methods and Resistance Training Methods – 2 day practical workshop. Across the two days you will learn how to apply the different methods of cardiovascular training to suit a clients needs. These methods include interval training and tempo training, for both indoors and the outdoors environment. You will also learn Advanced Resistance Training Methods, using a variety of free weight lifts, bodyweight exercises and resistance machines. The methods will include Eccentric Training, Supersets, Tri-Sets and Giant Sets, Circuit Training Methods and more.

​Baseline measures - 1 day workshop: Learn how to assess a client, including postural analysis, body composition, flexibility testing, and strength & fitness testing.

​KettleBells , TRX Suspension Training and Focus Pad Work – 1 day practical

​Group Training – Indoors, Outdoors, Conditioning Circuits – 1 day practical

Assessment days. Included in your course dates will be a day to be used to complete your assessments. These are lead by your course tutor and we will ensure that you have a full understanding of what needs to be done and how to pass your course.

Practical assessments - Training a peer on the course through the skills that you have learnt.

Online theory exam - Showcase your knowledge of the theory with an online multiple choice exam.

Course Intro

Prior to enrolling onto this Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training course, you must have already completed the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing - if you haven’t completed this then please click here for our combined Level 2 and 3 Personal Trainer course.

The Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, teaches you what is necessary to become a Personal Trainer that can be both employed or self-employed once qualified.

Across the Level 3 Certificate you will learn the following units:

Anatomy & Physiology

A vitally important unit for all fitness professionals. You will learn about the musculo-skeletal system, as well as energy systems, cardiorespiratory system, and the neuro-endocrine system - all of this will be related fully to how they all interact during physical activity.

Programming and Delivering Personal Training

Here you will learn how to programme (long-term) for a range of different clients to using a range of scientifically backed advanced training methods.

The training methods that you will learn will be taught so that you will know how to apply them to a range of different clients and client ability, to suit an array of different goals, including training for weight-loss, muscle growth, strength, power and endurance.

Nutrition

Our nutrition unit has been written and delivered to not just simply cover the basics, but will bring clarity to a very divisive and sometimes confusing subject in the world of Health & Fitness.

Within this unit you will be taught about macro and micro-nutrients, healthy food choices, supplementation, how to analyse food diaries, and importantly - how to design a specific nutrition plan to suit a range of different individuals with different needs and goals.

Online content and practical workshops

The platforms we use to deliver our content is designed to allow you to learn the theory at home using our online video modules, and then use this knowledge when you attend our gym based practical workshops with a current fitness professional.

ASSESSMENTS

Assessments

We ensure that all of our students are more than prepared for each and every assessment on their way to qualification. Your support tutor, whom you will have ongoing contact with whenever you need them, will ensure you are fully confident going into each of the following assessments. Our role is to make sure you pass.

Level 3 Assessments are completed on our planned assessment days and are as follows:

  • Multiple Choice Exams:
    • Anatomy & Physiology
    • Nutrition
  • Practical Assessment and Case Study
    • Analysing a clients food diary, and prescribing the nutrition plan - case study
    • Delivering exercise specific to a clients ability and goal - case study
    • Delivering a Personal Training Session - practical assessment

The feedback you will gain from each assessment is all part of building up your knowledge, confidence and professional development - ensuring you are primed and ready for your career in the health and fitness industry as a fitness professional. This is added into your course portfolio, in your online student academy, for future reference when you need it the most - working as a fitness professional.

Before starting the course I had no previous coaching or teaching experience. I was a regular gym goer myself but had no base learning in how to instruct. I have always enjoyed working with people and being social, I am a qualified hairdresser as well and have always liked to build relationships and work on self-improvement and care. I wanted to be a Personal Trainer because I became passionate about exercise and enjoyed learning new methods and wanted to share that with the wider world.
